During August and September 2026, the MicroDanger team collected sand samples from selected beaches, ballast water from ships operating in the Black Sea, and samples from aquaculture farms.
The samples will be analyzed to identify and characterize microplastics, helping researchers better understand how they enter, move through, and accumulate in the Black Sea ecosystem.
The fieldwork was conducted as part of the MicroDanger Project (BSB01214), supported by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.
